Convicted Serial killer found guilty of three more murders

Already serving a 110 year sentence for the murder of a teen runaway in Hollywood,  forty-seven year old Gilton Pitre has pleaded guilty to a further three murders.  The guilty plea comes with it the special circumstance allegation of serial murders and murder with a prior murder conviction.

Pitre faced a Los Angeles courtroom on May 29 and admitted to the 2004 murders of two women as well as the unborn baby of one of his victims.  Mariel Medina was murdered on January 31, 2004, her body was dumped in the downtown LA area.  According to Patch eight-months pregnant Irma Barboza was attacked on September 2004. Neither her nor her baby survived the attack and were found near the body of Mariel.

On June 3, 2007 Pitre killed his first known victim in a Sunset Boulevard Hotel room.  Fifteen year old runway Alyssa “Raven” Gomez was raped then strangled before wrapping her in a bedspread and dumping her body in an alleyway according to Daily News.  Surveillance footage from the hotel he was staying at that showed him removing a large object from his hotel room was enough to convict him in May 2010.  He had been released from prison only days before the murder.

For Alyssa’s sexual assault and murder Pitre was given a 110 year sentence for which LA Superior Court judge Kathleen Kennedy hoped meant that Pitre “doesn’t have the chance to do this to somebody else.”  Pitre will again face court on August 29 for sentencing and is facing the possibility of a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
